Our Mission

The purpose of South Carolina Ladies Auxiliary is to provide information to the public on the lifestyles, fashions, and in general, the lives of Southern women during the period 1860-1865; and to engage in other activities related to educating the public concerning Southern History and Heritage.

The means of providing such information includes, but is not limited to, historical talks to groups, living histories, exhibits, parades, battle and medical re-enactments, memorial ceremonies and balls.

Special Project - Hunley

The SCLA has worked very closely with the Friends of the Hunley and the Confederate Heritage Trust towards recovering the submarine, H. L. Hunley, and assuring the crews have a proper resting place. We have compiled photos of the recovery on August 8, 2000, and invite you to relive that special moment with us. We have also prepared an extensive page of links to other site with information about the Hunley. If you have links or photos you would like for us to include, please mail or email them to the address below.
