SCLA Raffle – drawing was held at Battle of Secessionville, Nov. 20, 2004

Thanks to the Stogner's for donating the painted concrete lawn ornaments –
a soldier, a cannon, and a stack of cannon balls. The winner has been notified. Thanks to all the members for selling the tickets, and all of our supporters who helped make this a successful undertaking.

The SCLA met at Shirley's home April 1, 2003. We had an evening of period music, and wore our favorite hats!

P1010090e2.JPG (86260 bytes) P1010092e.JPG (28721 bytes) At our January 2003 meeting, we showed our new members and prospects the proper "unmentionables" for the period. Member Rachel modeled for us. Notice the signature blue gingham napkins in the second photo. SCLA has distributed these at a few Battle of Secessionville socials, and at the OCR convention. Now you all know how to use them!
This page is a thoughtful poem, entitled "Spiritual Hugs" by a new lady to SCLA, Shirley Faciane. She and her two grown daughters, Joy and Gay, have been with us less than a year and have been working hard to get their first outfits ready so they could participate in our many activities. Even with all the rush and excitement of her first time "dressing out" and being a tour guide, Shirley was able to capture the feeling that we hope all our members and guests will experience at some time.
